Name Transits in Numerology: Letter Durations and Age Boundaries

Keep the unreduced duration, letter order and birthday endpoints visible.

In the name-Transit method, each letter occupies an interval equal to its numerological value. The letters are followed in order, then the name starts again. This worksheet uses the full name at birth under the selected name-slot policy. It needs the exact spelling, letter order, and birthday at which each interval begins—not only a name total.

Use the letter map consistently

This worksheet uses the repeating Pythagorean mapping: A, J, S = 1; B, K, T = 2; C, L, U = 3; D, M, V = 4; E, N, W = 5; F, O, X = 6; G, P, Y = 7; H, Q, Z = 8; I, R = 9. Letter values also supply their durations in years for this method.

The traditional labels for first-, middle-, and last-name Transits can include physical, mental, and spiritual. Those are symbolic categories, not medical, cognitive, or spiritual measurements. No letter can establish a person's condition or predict what will happen during its interval.

First-name example: MAY

We use an invented name so the arithmetic can stand on its own. M has value 4, A has value 1, and Y has value 7. The total duration is 4 + 1 + 7 = 12 years. Do not reduce that duration to 3: the unreduced sum determines when this sequence begins again.

A complete first pass through MAY
Letter Duration Birthday interval Completed-age labels
M 4 years Birth to before 4th birthday 0, 1, 2, 3
A 1 year 4th to before 5th birthday 4
Y 7 years 5th to before 12th birthday 5 through 11
M again 4 years 12th to before 16th birthday 12 through 15

Why age zero matters

The first year after birth is represented by completed age 0. If you start the table at age 1 instead, every boundary shifts. A four-year interval beginning at birth contains ages 0, 1, 2, and 3; the fourth birthday begins the next interval. Write birthday endpoints when a range of integer ages feels ambiguous.

At the fifth birthday in this example, Y begins. On the day immediately before it, A is still the active letter. At the twelfth birthday, the sequence wraps to M. These boundary tests are more reliable than estimating from a long strip of repeated letters.

Trace a later age without drawing every year

For age 29, divide by the full duration 12 and keep the remainder: 29 = 2 × 12 + 5. The position is 5 years into a repeat, which is the start of the Y interval. The remainder is an indexing tool, not an additional numerology number to interpret.

If you prefer a paper method, write three blocks: 0–12, 12–24, and 24–36, with the final birthday excluded from each block. Age 29 sits five years into the third block. Both methods identify the same letter.

Keep separate tracks separate

A full Transit chart builds a track for each prescribed name slot. Each track can have a different total duration. Do not advance the surname to its next letter merely because the first name changed. An Essence calculation may later combine the active values, but the timelines must be built correctly first.

Save the selected name, slot assignments, mapping, full durations, and birthday rule. Another input policy needs its own record. The LUVIRE guides provide the wider chart vocabulary.

A compact worksheet to keep

Write the letters across the top, their values beneath, and a running total of elapsed years along the bottom. Mark the target age only after the interval boundaries are complete. If a name contains the same letter twice, give each occurrence its own position. Combining repeated letters into one long interval would change the sequence and could move later boundaries.

Turn age boundaries into dates

Give our fictional MAY example a birthday of March 10, 2000. M runs from March 10, 2000 up to, but not including, March 10, 2004. A begins on that fourth birthday and lasts until the fifth birthday, March 10, 2005. Y begins on March 10, 2005 and continues until March 10, 2012. M starts again on that twelfth birthday.

On March 9, 2005 the completed age is 4, so A still applies. On March 10, 2005 the completed age becomes 5, so the active letter changes to Y. No calendar-year rollover is needed. These invented dates test an interval convention; they do not predict an event on a birthday. A February 29 birthday would need an additional anniversary convention in non-leap years, so this example deliberately avoids that unresolved choice.

Test a second track independently

Suppose the fictional surname slot is REED. Its values are R = 9, E = 5, E = 5 and D = 4, giving a full duration of 23 years. The two E occurrences keep their own consecutive positions. For age 29, the remainder after a complete 23-year pass is 6, which lies inside R's interval from 0 up to 9. The surname track therefore supplies R with value 9 while MAY supplies Y with value 7.

The different active letters are not a contradiction: the tracks have different lengths and boundaries. Under the practitioner slot convention used here, an absent middle name makes the surname supply both later tracks; multiple middle names are joined into one middle track and multiple surname components into one surname track. Record the actual slot choices before calculating. This does not make a repeated surname result independent evidence of a personal trait.

Check the label before interpreting it

A letter value of 7 means a seven-year interval in this calculation. It is not a seven-year duration obtained by reducing the whole name, and it is not a Personal Year 7. The Personal Year guide uses date components under a calendar-year rule; this page uses ordered name letters and birthday intervals. The Pythagorean table supplies the letter values, but the question asked of those values is different.

Before accepting a timeline, test the first birthday, every letter boundary and the first repeat. Save the spelling and slot assignments alongside those tests. Any optional reflection belongs after this record, without treating a traditional label as a diagnosis or a guaranteed change in life circumstances.
